The Truth Behind Dietary Fats And Cancer
Apart from heart diseases, certain types of cancer are also known to have been acquired by people with high levels of excess fats in the body. A number of studies today say that some foods can contribute to cancer depending on their amount in the diet. Because of the dietary fats contained in certain foods, researches claim that such fats can actually encourage the growth of malignant tumors. Although dietary fats are important because they are responsible in maintaining healthy hair, skin and regulating metabolism, some studies say that they are indeed possible culprits behind cancer. Though it is not conclusive, several studies indicate that there is a high probability that men will develop prostate cancer if they consume too much saturated and animal fat. During the late 18th century, some nutritionists actually thought that dietary fats directly affected the growth of cancer cells that later develop into breast cancer. However, more recent studies show that breast cancer's connection to dietary fats is not clear, thus fatty foods are not yet completely assumed as causes for breast cancer. Although a strict cancer-and-dietary-fats connection has not yet been proven, health experts still advise a balanced intake of fatty foods. In addition, individuals who want to reduce weight are recommended to not eliminate fats but rather cut their dietary fat intake from their diets. |
