Stay Away From The Bad Fats - Saturated Fats
Maintaining proper weight or reducing the excess thereof can be very difficult if not properly done. Among the most important aspects of controling weight is diet. Healthy food should be eaten to lower the risks of acquiring diseases and increasing the health of the heart. With the number of foods available in the market today, people may not be aware of the contents, particularly foods aimed at those wanting something quick and convenient.. A lot of such foods contain bad fats or saturated fats, which many consumers pay little attention to even though these are considered harmful substances capable of contributing to various heart diseases, which can lead to stroke or sudden death. Saturated fats are often tagged as bad fats because they increase the level of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) or bad cholesterol in the body. If the LDL level increases, it can cause clotting in the arteries so the blood cannot properly circulate, thus fail in distributing nutrients and oxygen throughout the body. When this happens, the heart and its muscles are deprived of the essential elements for their proper functioning in the circulatory system. A number of foods contain saturated fats -- some meat (especially of the poultry variety), egg yolks, sausages and other types of processed meat have been proven to contain unhealthy fats. Moreover, experts suggest that consumers should avoid dairy products such as butter, lard, whole milk and cheese because they are literally laden with saturated fats. In the same manner, processed grain foods such as cakes and pastries, which are scientifically proven to boost the LDL level of the body, are basically discouraged from being part of a healthy diet. |
